An Introduction to Azure Synapse Link
Thu, January 11, 2024- by Paul Saxton
- 1.5 minute read

Note: You can learn more about Azure Synapse Link and the deprecation of Export to Data Lake for D365 Finance and Operations by signing up to our free webinar on Thursday, 1st February 2024, at 14.00 GMT.
In a recent blog post, we discussed the deprecation of Microsoft Dynamics Export to Data Lake functionality for D365 Finance and Operations and the importance of migrating to the new solution — Azure Synapse Link — by November 2024.
But what exactly is Azure Synapse Link, and why is Microsoft forcing customers to migrate to this new solution? We reveal all in this blog post and our upcoming webinar.
What is Azure Synapse Link?
In case you haven’t read our previous blog post, Azure Synapse Link provides a way for Microsoft customers to continuously export a pipeline of data from Dataverse (Microsoft’s cloud-based storage service) to Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
The tool is designed for enterprise big data analytics and offers the following features:
- Choose both standard and custom finance and operations entities and tables.
- Continuously replicate entity and table data. It also supports CRUD transactions.
- Link data to Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Data Lake Storage Gen2.
- Support for all Azure Synapse Link for Dataverse features, including Parquet Delta files and restricted storage accounts.
- No table limits
Still confused? Sign up to our free webinar to learn more!
What’s covered in the webinar?
On the 1st of February, 2024, our Co-Founder and CTO Paul Saxton will discuss the deprecation of Export to Data Lake and its replacement, Azure Synapse Link.
Over the course of the webinar, Paul will:
- Discuss the benefits of Azure Synapse Link (including the introduction of Delta Tables and the use of the Common Data Format)
- Demo the new solution’s functionality
- Answer all your questions
Whether you’re wondering how to eliminate latency and downtime, confused about compatibility issues, or struggling to migrate in a cost-effective manner, you’ll learn everything you need to know.
If that weren’t enough, Paul will also explain how the 5Y Unified Data Platform can future-proof your BI reporting and analytics capabilities. While non-5Y customers are scrambling to migrate systems on their own, our customers have complete peace of mind because we include the migration to Azure Synapse Link (and all future Microsoft-recommended upgrades) as part of our ongoing service.
It’s just one of the ways we streamline BI reporting and help make organisations more data-centric.
