5Y are looking for a skilled and proactive ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Consultant to join our team on a part time contracting basis.

ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Consultant

This role will be pivotal in guiding clients through the complexities of ESG and CSRD compliance, enhancing their corporate sustainability, and ensuring transparent and impactful ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting.

Key Responsibilities of the ESG Consultant:

  • Client Advisory & Strategy Development: Work closely with clients to understand their ESG needs and help them develop compliant, transparent, and comprehensive CSRD-aligned ESG strategies.
  • CSRD Compliance & Reporting: Guide clients through CSRD requirements, ensuring they fulfil mandatory reporting standards, including double materiality and digital reporting.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Assist clients in collecting, analysing, and presenting ESG data, using analytics to enhance understanding and demonstrate impacts.
  • Policy Development & Implementation: Support clients in developing and implementing ESG policies, ensuring alignment with current and emerging EU regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Advise clients on effective ways to communicate ESG initiatives to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and building trust.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Provide training and resources to clients’ internal teams on ESG reporting requirements and ongoing regulatory updates.
  • ESG/CSRD Compliance Assessment: Conduct detailed assessments of clients' current sustainability reporting practices to identify gaps and ensure alignment with ESG/CSRD standards and requirements.
  • Sustainability Reporting Strategy: Develop, implement, and optimise clients’ sustainability reporting strategies, ensuring they meet ESG and CSRD obligations while also aligning with other relevant frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Oversee data collection processes, analyse quantitative and qualitative ESG data, and ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity in reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand reporting needs, provide training on ESG and CSRD requirements, and foster a culture of sustainability within the organisation.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare high-quality reports, disclosures, and communication materials to support clients’ CSRD and broader ESG reporting efforts.

Key Deliverables of the ESG Consultant:

  • Development and delivery of tailored CSRD-compliant ESG strategies for client projects.
  • Comprehensive ESG and CSRD gap analyses and assessment reports.
  • Creation of client-specific policies and guidelines in line with CSRD requirements.
  • Timely and accurate client support documentation for regulatory filings.
  • Insightful performance reports measuring and tracking key ESG indicators

Skills of the ESG Consultant:

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex ESG data.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with experience handling multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain ESG concepts to clients of varying expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating proactive problem-solving and adaptability.
