The Data Engineer role involves supporting the build of data streaming systems and implementing data flows. A strong understanding of the Microsoft BI toolset is crucial.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems
  • Document source-to-target mappings
  • Re-engineer manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatable use
  • Support the build of data streaming systems
  • Write ETL scripts and code to make sure the ETL process performs optimally

Skillset Required (or demonstration of similar skills that can be transferred):

  • A minimum of three year’s experience of effective business solution delivery using the Microsoft BI toolset
    • Azure data Platform
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Synapse
    • Power BI
    • SSAS
    • SSIS
    • SSRS
  • Strong OLAP (including MDX) or DAX
  • Relational database structures and SQL, preferably with SQL Server 2014+
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality IT solutions within agreed timescales
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven ability to pick up new concepts and technologies
  • Business and requirements analysis
  • Excellent customer facing and presentation skills
  • Effective problem solving and analysis skills
  • Excellent telephone manner and both verbal & written communications skills
  • Effective listening skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Hands on experience as a database, data warehouse, big data/analytics developer or administrator.
  • Experience working in both agile and more traditional delivery methodologies with respect to significant data management developments.
  • Proven track record to work to strict commercial deadlines
  • Self-management and strong organisation skills
